"Serve More People"
Someone recently thanked me for taking time to listen to what they are trying to accomplish with their new nonprofit, and for offering to connect them with folks I know who have done similar work. To me, it was a no-brainer as I have a quiet mantra of serve more people. It’s the same sentiment that makes me flinch when a funder asks who our competitors are. Until we have eliminated the need for every nonprofit, we should be looking for partners in our work, collaborating with peer organizations, and supporting each other in every way that we can. This is what drives me.

ABOUT ME
With 30+ years in nonprofit management, there is little you can throw my way that will be new to me. I have served as Executive Director of both a national organization with 33 affiliate sites and a shared budget of $12.5M and a local organization with a $1M budget. I have worked on both the development and program sides of nonprofit management, and have worked, consulted, and volunteered in education, disability programming, arts and culture, elderly services, environments. I bring a broad lens to every conversation as well as a deep respect for how challenging this work truly is.
MEANING OF THE LOGO
To me, a lighthouse symbolizes a beacon of hope, a steady companion, a road home. My goal is to support nonprofit leaders through their sometimes treacherous waters to a safe harbor. Furthermore, each lighthouse has a unique signal, so my additional goal is to tailor my services to your unique needs.
Come here and seek shelter,
come I shall provide,
your weary men can rest here;
let me be thy guide
- Styn Van Meenen
My talented daughter created my logo based on Battery Point Lighthouse, which stands at the end of Lunenburg Harbor in Nova Scotia. My grandmother’s cousin served as keeper of this lighthouse for a spell in the early 1900's.
